Vicki had an idea – I always like when seniors come to me with something that they would like to try. Why? Because it gives me a challenge – how am I going to pull off this picture.

Now the idea that Vicki had was not a tough one, but I needed to come up with some different poses that would also include her friends in some of the pictures. The jumping picture has been done many, many times before (if not by me, by some other photographers), and it was something that the young ladies came up with before we finished off for the night. I was happy to capture them as they jumped, distorted their faces and tried to keep their hair out of their faces (note to self – long hair needs hair bands for next jumping picture).

Katy and her dad often go hunting together, so she decided that she would incorporate this into her senior session. So she brought along her hunting outfit that she would wear when she is with her father hunting for wildlife.

The image of Katy in the chaise lounge, which is one of our newest props, is a favorite with our seniors. Not only can we obtain some great poses like the one that Katy is in, we also like to give a variety of portraits using this chair.

We had Lora and Andrea come to our studio and sign up to be senior models. Actually Lora is a Senior Model, and Andrea is a Junior Model. Since they came in at the same time, we decided to do some “friend” pictures with them.

If you know either Lora or Andrea, ask them for their senior model card so that you can receive some discounts on your senior session with us.

Dallas is a senior from Carrollton that had, and has, some great ideas for his senior portraits. His father owns a NAPA store, which Dallas works at, so he wanted to do something there. It was great to go into the back room of the NAPA store, because there were so many possibilities – but I decided to have the hanging tail pipes be the background and not too much else. I wanted to create an interesting background, but not one that would take over the image and make Dallas the secondary object in the portrait.

We are always up for a challenge – and we encourage our seniors to come up with an idea, or show us something that they are interested in. Then we try to recreate the image that they have seen, and improve it further.

Taylor is a friend of our Senior Model Katie – both are seniors at Minerva High School this year.

Taylor came to us with a great selection of clothing, and items from one of her hobbies – ART. She is extremely talented and has a great eye for making her art come to life. It was wonderful to meet and photograph her in our studio – plus we will be photographing her at the Minerva High School in the near future.

We had Lyle come to us for his senior images. As you can see from the one picture, he is into baseball. Plus we went on location to our local  University (recently changed from a college) for some portraits outdoors.

He will be graduating from Marlington High School this year.

We went out with Erika for some more fun and to capture some more great portraits for her. Something that we like is for our senior models, and our seniors as well, challenge us with a portrait that they have. Not only does this make their senior session more unique, and the senior becomes more involved in their portraits, but it gives us a challenge to capture a portrait that basically they thought of.

Erika wanted to have an outdoor location to capture some images for her senior session – so we decided to meet at the John F Kennedy Memorial Gardens, near the Football Hall of Fame in Canton. We used different areas of the garden and surrounding walking paths as backgrounds and Erika had many onlookers with lots of great comments. This is common when we are photographing seniors outdoors, and most times the senior thinks its great they feel like a model.

A 2010 grad – Shawn came to our studio for a few senior sessions in the past couple of months. We made a slideshow of his senior images for his Graduation Party, going on this weekend.

Shawn, congratulations and good luck with everything in the future.

The scarecrow came to visit, and we took some images of him in alley behind our studio. This senior came with his costume, but he did not have access to his makeup. So we told him not to worry, and we added the makeup to the image digitally.

It takes brain and talent to add makeup to the image and have it look like makeup, and not like some 2 year old added some crayon marks to the face of the scarecrow. That is why I let Nicole take care of these delicate and digitally creative requirements. I just push the button on the camera and say the most important thing before pushing the button – “SMILE!”.
